Other studies suggest that Lion's Mane may support brain regeneration by stimulating the production of nerve growth factor (NGF), which is essential for proper neuron function and rebuilding. It has been shown that under the influence of the extract, the balance between NGF and its precursor (proNGF) improves, which promotes the regeneration of nerve cells. Additionally, the use of the extract lowered the level of inflammation in the brain by reducing the number of over-activated immune cells. Thanks to this, Lion's Mane can support repair processes in the nervous system and slow down the degeneration of neurons associated with Alzheimer's disease.

The most promising results come from clinical trials in which patients with a mild form of Alzheimer's disease took capsules containing Lion's Mane extract for almost a year. Compared to the placebo group, people taking the supplement showed better results in tests assessing cognitive functions, such as memory, concentration, and the ability to perform daily activities. Significantly, in the placebo group, a clear decrease in the level of important biomarkers related to brain function was observed, while in those taking Lion's Mane, no such negative changes occurred. Additionally, brain imaging studies showed that in patients using the extract, there was no deterioration in the structure of white matter, which may indicate stabilization of neurodegenerative processes.

Lion's Mane shows great potential in the therapy of Alzheimer's disease – it has neuroprotective effects, supports neuron regeneration, and may slow down the progression of the disease.
